IDAC Focus Areas

The Clovis Unified School District logo features a red apple with a green leaf on top of a stack of blue books.1.  Staff training promoting understanding of cultural differences
2.  Educating staff about racial bullying
3.  Staff training about racial bias and discrimination

The purpose of the page is for our staff and students to be able to illustrate the amazing things that are happening at our school!

What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.

Diverse Representation & Engagement

Fugman is committed to ensuring that parent committees, student committees, and the systems, practices, and policies that affect our school, students, and families are shaped by diverse voices that are reflective and representative of our community. Our team works hard to engage our community, solicit input, and seek out voices that help us to grow, improve, and be the best we can be for our kids. We look forward to continuing to partner with all who want to work together towards helping Fugman to be the best in mind, body, and spirit.

Here are some ways you can be involved and make your voice heard at Fugman:

IDAC – Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council

SART – School Assessment and Review Team

SSC – School Site Council (In order to be a voting member you must submit an nomination form and be elected – but attendance is open to the community)

Additionally, you can always reach out to our Principal, Jeremy Pierro directly either via e-mail at jeremypierro@cusd.com or by calling Fugman to set an appointment.

Student Human Relations Council

A group of children stand in front of an American flag, all wearing patriotic clothing.

In the 2022-2023 school year in addition to having student committees such as Student Council and PASA (Principal Advisory for Student Affairs) we will be establishing a Human Relations Council. We will be sharing more information on this group and how to get involved as it is developed. We are looking forward to encouraging and lifting up the voices of our students!

Acceptance and Understanding of ALL Students

A group of students and a teacher smile together, with the text 'Empower your students to build positive relationships -- and become their best selves.'

This is our commitment to the on-going work of helping our students to SWIM with the best. Through our daily words and actions as well as school-wide activities, classroom instruction, our PBIS model, and a variety of other endeavors our work towards inclusion, acceptance, and understanding is embedded in our core values. We look forward to building on the progress made through classroom instruction, events like kindness week, and joining our Clovis North area school in the Positivity Project in the upcoming year to continue to help our Marlins be models of character at school and in our community.
